Transducer

Transducer face

Flat acoustic surface transmits and receives sonar waves for fish finding.

Housing

Rugged waterproof casing protects the internal sonar elements.

Mount bracket

Adjustable metal bracket secures the transducer to the boat transom.

Cable

Coiled wire transmits sonar data from the transducer to the display.

What is a transducer used for?

A transducer is the underwater eye of a fish finder. It sends and hears the ping; the screen is the fish finder itself.

How is a transducer different from similar gear?

The wet part, not the head unit. Mount and angle matter as much as the brand of screen.

When should you use a transducer?

Fit it before you trust a finder, and check it whenever the picture dies after a beach or a trailer bunk.

What problems does a transducer solve?

Without it the finder is a clock. With a clean mount it shows fish and bottom under the hull.
